Beginner Classes:
Students will first learn the basic stances, blocks, strikes, and kicks that serve as a foundation for their karate training. Traditional empty-hand Okinawan kata and Chinese forms are used to reinforce these principles. Self-defense instruction prepares the student to use release and control maneuvers against chokes and wrist and hair grabs. Sparring with fellow students and instructors allows exploration of appropriate reactions to these and other attacks under more true-to-life conditions. Arnis instruction begins in these classes, with basic strikes, disarms, and control techniques.
Intermediate Classes:
Students will be further instructed in empty-hand release tactics but training will concentrate on submission and control maneuvers. Self- defense instruction continues to provide training against grabs and students will begin to learn release maneuvers for knife, club, and gun assaults. Arnis instruction continues to focus on disarm and control techniques and students will begin training with traditional weapons.
